Wales' first solar PV cooperative - Egni Co-op

Inspired by hearing countless people saying they wanted to invest in green energy, we developed Wales' first solar PV co-operative - EGNI. This feeds directly into AAT's ambition to combine a greener future with sustainable community development.

Egni co-op develops solar pv energy on community buildings. By doing so, we generate clean energy, we enable community projects to be more financially stable, and we give people the chance to put their money towards a more sustainable future.

In 2014-5 we raised £171,000 from 94 members and installed solar panels on five community buildings in south Wales. These systems total 119 kWp of solar PV, saving 1,000 tonnes of carbon over the lifetime of the panels.  Each scheme is linked to a live website where you can see the electricity production and carbon savings.

We are about to launch our second share offer, so if you're interested in investing see www.egni.coop.
