The launch of Gwaun Cae Gurwen Primary School's impressive photo-voltaic roof was launched by the Assembly Member, Edwina Hart. This is one of the largest school roof PV arrays in the UK and will offset 7 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. In addition, renewable energy will be brought into the classroom since monitors will be connected to the PV panels, showing how much electricity is generated at any given moment. Pupils will be see the benefits of harnessing the power of nature and become a much more eco-friendly school.

Attending the launch were members of local renewable energy organisations, politicians, representatives of the local authority, the mayor etc.

Light refreshments were available over which visitors were able to mingle and admire the new installation at leisure.
